Fellowship, Leadership, and a Great Visit to the Ozarks

Sometimes, a chapter event reminds you of what makes MDNA such a special organization. My recent visit to the Southern Regional Chapter event in the Ozarks was one of those experiences. Gina and I had a wonderful time, and I came away impressed by the strength of the chapter, the friendships shared among its members, and the enthusiasm for our industry and association.

We kicked things off Friday morning with a great chapter meeting. The discussion covered a variety of topics, including chapter business, 2027 convention news, and, of course, artificial intelligence (AI) and what it may mean for our businesses moving forward. It was a productive and engaging meeting, and it was encouraging to see members sharing ideas, asking questions, and participating in the conversation.

After the meeting, we had the opportunity to visit Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. What an incredible place! Founded by Alice Walton, the museum features an outstanding collection of American art, made possible through the Walton family’s vision and the generosity of other donors. The architecture, setting, and collection were absolutely stunning. If you ever have the opportunity to visit, I highly recommend making time for it.

We also experienced a different side of the Ozarks with a mountain bike ride along the area’s beautiful trails. The Walton family has invested more than $180 million in developing outdoor recreation opportunities and trails that benefit both local residents and visitors. It was impressive to see the commitment to building an active community and creating opportunities for people to enjoy the outdoors.

Friday evening brought everyone together again for dinner at Tusk & Trotter. We enjoyed fantastic food, but just as importantly, we had more time for fellowship and conversation. Those opportunities to connect outside the meeting room are an important part of what makes MDNA membership so valuable.

Saturday morning wrapped up the visit with breakfast with the Reed family. It was a pleasure to spend more time with a family I have known for quite a while. These longstanding relationships are one of the great rewards of being involved in MDNA. Over the years, our business connections often grow into genuine friendships that extend well beyond the workplace.

My biggest takeaway from the visit was how well the chapter is doing. The members appear to genuinely enjoy one another and value the time they spend together. There is a sense of camaraderie and connection that speaks volumes about the health of a chapter. A strong chapter is built on more than meetings and business discussions; it is built on relationships, participation, and a shared commitment to staying connected.

Gina and I thoroughly enjoyed our time in the Ozarks. Thank you to everyone who made us feel welcome and took the time to visit with us. We appreciate the hospitality and the opportunity to see firsthand what makes this chapter such a great part of MDNA.

Until next Wednesday, keep building those relationships, stay engaged, and remember that the strength of MDNA has always been its people!
